Delta Dining Chair Oak & Papercord
Boasting a simple silhouette, the Delta Chair is formed of deceptively complex joinery to create the elegant curves of its contoured back rest. Crafted from Oak solid wood the original design has been updated with a paper cord seat handwoven by artisan weavers in Portugal, giving this design a more rustic, textured feel.
Regarded as one of Britain's most esteemed industrial designers, Matthew Hilton infuses complex engineering and seemingly effortless simplicity into each piece he creates. Working with luxurious materials such as solid wood, cast iron and brass, Hilton's designs are inspired by long-established furniture forms he seeks to refresh.
Care Instructions
Paper cord is very strong and is designed to age naturally over time. The paper cord is finished with a wax that helps prevent staining and should require little maintenance.
For daily cleaning, paper cord can be lightly brushed to remove dust and debris. If further cleaning is needed, a tightly wrung cloth or sponge, and mild colourless dish soap can be used to wipe the surface. We do not recommend cleaning the paper cord too often, as this can cause unnecessary wear.
If the paper cord is stained, for example with red wine or other darkly coloured food or drink, use a tightly wrung cloth immediately to gently dab the stain, do not rub it as this can damage the paper cord. After cleaning, any excess water can be removed by dabbing the surface with a dry, clean, undyed absorbent cloth. Leave to dry thoroughly before using.
Exposing pieces of furniture made from a combination of wood and paper cord to direct heat, for example, from radiators, underfloor heating, or sunlight, may cause the piece to creak. This does not affect the integrity of the piece.
We recommend using a cushion when sitting on a lightly coloured paper cord whilst wearing clothes that are likely to transfer loose dye onto the cord, including but not limited to new indigo jeans.
